Tilda is often viewed with skepticism when it comes to SEO. There is no access to the code, no plugins, no familiar tools from WordPress or 1C-Bitrix, and it seems logical to conclude that the builder is suitable for landing pages, but not for search rankings. The case study of SafeLine, a manufacturer of electrical tape, cable ties and voltage tester screwdrivers, shows the opposite: over the course of a year, the Tilda website raisedIKS nearly threefold and brought informational articles to the top of search results, without a single line of code and without moving to another platform.
Why Tilda is not trusted for SEO
The main complaint about the builder is limited control over the technical side. On WordPressinternal linking and data structure can be automated with a plugin; on Tilda, this is manual work.Title, description and og-tags have to be filled in for each page separately, sitemap.xml is generated automatically but requires checking, while every redirect is a separate setting in the control panel rather than a line in the config.
This explains the growing search query:
why tilda is not suitable for seo
But the problem is not with the platform itself. Tilda has all the basic tools: headings, meta descriptions, structured data markup and URL management. The question is whether the site owner uses them fully or leaves them empty, relying on auto-generation.
Where we started: audit and content structure
The websitesafeline-tape.ru sells a narrow range of products: several series of electrical tape, cable ties and voltage tester screwdrivers. There is little commercial demand for these products, but many practical questions revolve around them:how to find a broken wire , how to check a live wire with a voltage tester screwdriver , which electrical tape withstands high temperatures. The focus was on informational content that answers these questions while also introducing readers to the brand.
The audience is mixed: private users who repair wiring at home or in their cars, and professional electricians and procurement specialists who choose materials for their work. The same articles are equally useful to both B2C and B2B readers, so a separate content strategy for each segment was not needed.
First rule : separate informational and commercial pages. The catalog answers the “buy” query, while the blog answers the “how to” query. Combining them into one long product page with a description spanning three screens is a typical mistake that immediately dilutes the relevance of both pages. On SafeLine, these two streams were separated structurally: a dedicated blog section, a dedicated FAQ section, and a separate glossary of terms, each targeting its own keyword group.
Internal linking and the technical side without code
Tilda has no plugin that automatically adds internal links, so for most of the year, internal linking was done manually as needed : a new blog article linked to a product page, a product landing page, or another thematically related article.
On the technical side, we filled in title and description across all key pages, fine-tuned sitemap.xml , closed duplicates using 301-redirects where needed, added schema.org structured data for articles. None of this requires access to the code: just consistency and attention to detail, which websites built with website builders usually lack.
Results of SEO on Tilda over a year
- IKS rose from 30 to 80 – a 166.66% increase over a year of work. Yandex’s site quality index is a metric that grows along with a resource’s actual usefulness and demand, and such a jump is rarely accidental.
- 79% of all visits to the website came via the blog, FAQ and glossary, rather than direct visits to the homepage or product pages. This is direct confirmation that informational content, rather than commercial pages, became the main audience acquisition channel.
- 78% of traffic – organic search (Yandex and Google combined), while the site did not run paid advertising for these articles.
- Rankings for key informational queries rose to Yandex top 4-5, while starting at the end of the first page and the beginning of the second page of search results.
- Over 80% of search clicks come from mobile devices. For a Tilda site, this is more of a plus: the builder's responsive layout covers the mobile use case without additional development.
None of these metrics required changing the platform or migrating from Tilda. We worked exclusively with what the builder already offers.
How long it took to achieve the result
ИКС grew not linearly but in jumps: from 30 to 40 – in January, the next jump, to 70, – in March, and only by August – to 80. Reaching the top 4-5 with informational articles took more time than increasing ИКС: stable rankings appeared after approximately six months of regular publishing and technical improvements, rather than after one or two months. If you expect results sooner – you may prematurely decide that the strategy is not working and abandon it halfway through.
What from this applies to your Tilda site
The SafeLine case study is not about a tactic that worked once for one client. Three things from it apply to almost any website built with a website builder:
- Do not mix informational and commercial pages. If the catalog and blog address different user intents, separate them structurally rather than trying to cover everything with a single page containing a long product description.
- Internal linking on Tilda is manual work, and that's fine. Since there is no plugin to create links automatically, plan the link map between articles in advance rather than after the fact.
- Use the built-in SEO settings to the fullest.Title, description, og-tags,sitemap.xml and redirects are available in Tilda out of the box: the question is not whether these tools are available, but whether they have been filled in.
Frequently asked questions
Yes. The SafeLine case shows SQI growth from 30 to 80 in one year and informational articles reaching the Yandex top 5 for key queries, without changing platforms.
The basic principles are the same: structure, keyword research, content, and technical hygiene. The difference lies in the tools: Tilda has no plugins or direct code access, so some tasks that are automated on other CMSs have to be done manually here, primarily internal linking and filling in meta tags.
SQI is Yandex’s Site Quality Index, a metric that reflects how useful and in demand a resource is among users. SQI growth often goes hand in hand with higher positions in Yandex, so it is useful as an additional indicator of progress.
The SafeLine case is direct proof: 78% of the website’s traffic came from organic search with not a single ruble spent on paid search advertising. Focusing on informational content and technical accuracy works even without an advertising budget; it simply requires more time.
The first changes in SQI appeared just a few months after the start, while stable top positions came after about six months. This is not a fast channel, but the result does not require stopping sales or moving the website during the work.
Conclusion
The platform limits the tools, not the result. SafeLine proves it with figures: a Tilda website nearly tripled its SQI and established its informational articles at the top of search results, without a single line of code or moving to another CMS. If your website is built on a website builder and you are postponing SEO until you move to a «real» CMS, you are most likely postponing it for reasons that are not technical.
